ANNAPOLIS, MD (January 2, 2020) – RXNT Inc. is helping the nation address the opioid epidemic with its Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA)-certified Electronic Prescribing for Controlled Substances (EPCS) tool. Effective January 1, 2020, Arizona, Iowa, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and Rhode Island are required to comply with electronic prescribing for controlled substances (EPCS) mandates. RXNT’s e-prescribing solution satisfies these state mandates, and helps thousands of prescribers in other states that have already implemented the mandates (Connecticut, Maine, Minnesota, New York, and Pennsylvania).
Prescribers who do not comply with the EPCS mandate in their state may not be able to prescribe controlled substances starting on January 1, 2020. Details about each state’s requirements can be found at https://rxnt.com/epcs-mandates.
Patient safety has been at the heart of RXNT’s mission since its creation in 1999. RXNT developed e-Prescribing (eRx) software-its first product-after founder, President, and CEO Randy Boldyga was moved by a news article about the accidental death of an infant. A pharmacist misread the physician’s handwriting and prepared a lethal dose of medicine that was administered to the baby. Today, the RXNT EPCS-certified electronic prescribing solution is still the gold standard in eRx, and has been used to transmit over 52 million prescriptions since launch.
Since 1999, RXNT has provided award-winning and certified eRx, Electronic Health Records (EHR), and Practice Management and Billing solutions to physician practices, healthcare providers and medical billing companies. The company’s cost-effective, fully-integrated and cloud-based systems are designed to provide robust functionality while being easy to implement and use.
