Utah: Upcoming 2022 EPCS Mandate Deadline
The Deadline is January 1st, 2022. Are You Prepared?
RXNT Will Help You Comply in Utah
Starting January 1st, 2022 all Schedule II-V controlled substance prescriptions must be transmitted electronically to pharmacies in Utah. Electronic Prescribing for Controlled Substances (EPCS) mandates and legislation is crucial to curb the opioid epidemic and safely prescribe prescriptions. As of November 2021, just 65% of Utah prescribers are enabled. Is your practice equipped to handle the requirements? Noncompliance with the mandate would be a general violation of Utah state law, and prescribers could be subject to penalties.
For more specific information about the Utah Controlled Substances Act, see the Utah State Legislature Code Section 58-37-22, which details the electronic prescribing requirements and exemptions. To comply with EPCS regulations, prescribers must complete identity proofing, set up a two-factor authentication device, and utilize certified, secure electronic prescription software.
Since 1999, RXNT has pioneered electronic prescribing software for ambulatory practices and has been EPCS-certified by the DEA since the 2010 legislation was enacted. What's that mean for you? A proven and affordable solution that will have you e-prescribing in 10 business days or less!*
*Write prescriptions within 10 days after you enroll and complete the self-paced training.
