According to an article by Health Data Management (Fed Adoption Could Spur More Use of Direct Messaging Software), federal agencies, including the Department of Veterans Affairs and Indian Health Services, are leading the charge in adopting direct messaging software. David Kibbe, M.D., president and CEO at DirectTrust, predicts that other agencies will follow suit if they see that the technology implementation is successful. Federal agencies are most likely recognizing the security and efficiency benefits of direct messaging. These benefits, paired with less stringent Meaningful Use requirements, also create incentives for providers beyond federal agencies to adopt direct messaging and to continue attesting to Meaningful Use.
