ANNAPOLIS, Md., December 10, 2015 (Severna Park Voice) – Severn School recently received a $100,000 gift for its new Innovation Center courtesy of the locally based ambulatory health care software leader RXNT and owners Randy and Claudia Boldyga.
To honor the donation, the school renamed the “create space” in its new Teel Academic Innovation Center the RXNT Tech Center. “There is nothing more important to improve humankind than education,” said Headmaster Douglas Lagarde. “For more than 100 years, Severn School has been educating our future leaders. Today’s gift will help continue that legacy by encouraging exploration and innovation in the spirit of entrepreneurship. We are grateful to RXNT and the Boldygas.”
The school, the largest and oldest independent school in Anne Arundel County, is working to conclude its Severn On Course capital campaign. The campaign, now in its final stage, was initiated to fund the construction of Teel Academic Center ($17.5 million), enhance academic programming ($1.5 million), and bolster the school’s faculty and student endowment fund ($2 million). The three-year campaign is now within $700,000 of its $21 million goal.
“When RXNT was presented with the opportunity to help facilitate an environment that empowers students to embrace and overcome challenges through technology and innovation, Claudia and I immediately knew this was something RXNT would support,” reflected Randy Boldyga, RXNT president and CEO. “It is my hope that by providing students with the tools they need to take on the challenges of a classroom, we are preparing the students to enter the workforce with the confidence and skillset necessary for success. RXNT will continue to promote opportunity for growth amongst Severn School graduates by providing competitive internships and encouraging critical, hands-on learning.”

The RXNT Tech Center, located on the lower level of Severn’s new Teel Academic Center, allows students and staff to collaborate, create and connect in new ways of design, thinking and building. A large, inviting and visually interesting space, the RXNT Tech Center features large work tables, 3-D printers, laser cutters, electronics, sewing machines, and shelves of raw materials that invite students to tinker, play and create.
“Innovative and entrepreneurial ideas don’t just happen; they require work and persistence, as failure is a part of the process,” said Kelly Wilson, the center’s director of innovative and entrepreneurial programs. “The center helps to challenge the limitations of traditional education, to allow students to bring their passions forward in an inspiring and supportive environment to foster resilience. We desire to build a student’s ability to seek challenges, withstand setbacks, embrace responsibility and use the lessons of experience to move forward, and to foster the attitudes and habits of innovation and entrepreneurism.”
